Job description:

The Research Scientist will join a multidisciplinary and diverse R&D group, focusing on bioprocessing, and fermentation of various proteins to enhance the flavor in cultivated seafood. The Research Scientist will also work collaboratively with other researchers at two global leading universities in Cellular Agriculture. The position will be in Hampton, Virginia. There will be occasional quarterly trip and collaboration with Researchers at UC Davis.

Essential Job Duties:
The Research Scientist will focus on original research to develop and optimize bioprocessing, and fermentation techniques for biomaterials extraction from different protein sources. Analytical techniques involved in research projects include but are not limited to digestion, anerobic digestion, microbiology, reactor operation, and protein characterization. This position is expected to perform research independently, draft research manuscripts, train/mentor students, maintain lab functions and support the team
with relevant administrative work. The researcher is expected to attend meetings with the PI, and other research team members, stakeholders, and other collaborators. This job may include up to 25% travel.
