The ProVeg Incubator completed the programme for its second cohort of startups with a Closing Pitch Day event on 12 July 2019. Startups from the Summer 2019 cohort that participated in the event included Better Nature, Cellular Agriculture Ltd, Greenwise, LegenDairy, Mondarella, Plantagusto, Plantcraft, and Youpeas.
Each startup had ten minutes to pitch to a panel of leading names in the plant-based investment sector. Our panel of investors included Mario Lebherz from Atlantic Food Labs, Dr Regina Hecker from Blue Horizon, Dr Manon Littek from Katjesgreenfood, and Kim Odhner from New Crop Capital. The startups showcased everything from tempeh burgers to green-banana pâté, almond-based mozzarella, and protein-packed cookies.
At the end of the pitch session, the judge’s score sheets were tallied to determine the top three pitching startups. In third place was Panvega AG, with second place being awarded to Greenwise and Better Nature taking home the award for first place. Additionally, LegenDairy won the crowd-vote award. All the winning founders received ProVeg Incubator merchandise, as well as gift cards to vegan burger chain, Swing Kitchen.
The event brought together key players to connect and create synergies across the food-innovation space. We look forward to hosting our distinguished guests at future events as we continue to move toward our shared mission of removing animals from the global food system.
